Selected photos from the July 2001 Empowering the Medicine (sman grub) ritual, as performed by doctors in Lhasa at the Factory of Tibetan Medicine, Nyangre Road, Lhasa. The ritual lasts for a week; these photos are from the fire offering ( sbyin sreg) portion of the ritual. Additional images, videos, interviews, and ethnographic data will be prepared in late 2003.
