THDL Reference Status

THDL Reference is now under intensive development as funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant. The most important resource now being developed is the Tibetan-English dictionary, which was slowly prototyped from 2001-3 while most content remained offline. From January 2004, major new content should appear each month. Also in 2004 we will finally open the Encyclopedia extension, with its essay-length entries for important topics. This will begin with a section on Tibetan Literary Genres, drawing on the published book Tibetan Literature: Studies in Genre edited by José Cabezón and Roger Jackson.

The bibliography section is also in a period of dynamic growth. While we are continuing to add bibliographic records for websites related to Tibet and the Himalayas, we have also now expanded the bibliographic database to conventional print resources as well as digital resources.
