TK 36 - Detail (6).jpg [7/20]
Title: Detail of Medical Instruments (V) - Thangka Thirty-Six
Caption: This panel begins the series on surgical stylets of various shapes and sizes. Most of these stylets are hollow. The literature with regards to these instruments is extremely contradictory and convoluted. Thus, this presintation may be wrong as to which description corresponds to each instrument.
The instrument at the bottom is a probe in the shape of barley. This stylet is not hollow and is used for "the operation of the tumour in the vertebral column" (Bhagwan Dash, 11). THIS MAY NOT BE RIGHT.
