Title: Classification of Drugs I - Thangka Thirty-Four
Source: Thangkas 018.jpg
Caption: The caption at the top of this thangka reads "Chapter Twenty-One: class which generally cure all common heat, starting from camphor and continuing down to halite." As this title suggests, this thangka shows illustrations of medicines used to cure diseases of heat. It is the first in a series of two thangkas on the subject of the classification of drugs.
The three medicines in the top right panel, continuing to the five on the panel below, are for disorders of mkhris-pa (the humour equivalent to bile.) These medicines in order are: gentian, momordica, kurchee, monkswood, sow thistle, spleenwort, swertia, and barberry.
The medicines in the final panel on the bottom right show medicines for disorders of bad-kan (the humour equivalent to phlegm,) including ginger (first in panel) and halite (last in panel.)
