Therapeutics in Tibetan Medicine
Traditionally in Tibetan medicine, diet and behavioral recommendations are initial therapies for many types of health conditions. Various medicinal substances are also prescribed, and techniques of pharmacy and pharmaco-therapeutics are highly sophisticated in Tibetan medicine. This page offers resources for the study of this topic, intending primarily to appeal to those with interests in alternative traditions of health care, practical applications of Tibetan medicine in Tibet or abroad, and the scholarly or scientific study of medicinal substances.
Spotlight
Video footage documenting the process of making Tibetan medicine in the Factory in Lhasa are now available for study--37 video titles can be found in the Therapeutics & Pharmacy Video Series.
The TMLR project has short in-progress essays available for preliminary reading on Materia Medica and Medicinal Compounds. These and other essays will be developed during 2003.
Community
Tibetan Medicine Discussion Forum: Join the academic discussion forum for translation issues, historical and ethnographic observations or questions, and other theoretical and practical concerns that arise in the study of Tibetan medicine. Grants for research on Tibetan medicine are posted on the forum as well.

Projects
Currently active within the Medicine Collections is Tibetan Medicine Learning Resources, which is developing a set of multimedia instructional materials to aid in the study and teaching of Tibetan medicine. Among other topics, the project focuses on the practice of Pharmacy in Lhasa today.
