Outline of the Contents of The Bönpo Kanjur
The master catalogue of The Bönpo Kanjur will be primarily based on doxographical classifications: (i) Sûtras (mdo), (ii) Prajñâpâramitâ ('bum), (iii) Tantras (rgyud), and (iv) Texts dealing with higher forms of meditation (mdzod, "treasuries"). For the sake of convenience the Indian (i.e., Buddhist) terms are used here and elsewhere, but it must be kept in mind that although Bonpos employ the same Tibetan terms as the Buddhists, they do not accept their Indian origin, since they trace their religious terminology to Zhang Zhung.
