THDL’s Guide to Journals, accessed through the links to the left and right, is intended as a reference list to print and electronic academic journals of interest to those in Tibetan and Himalayan Studies. These external journals are not in any way related to the Tibetan and Himalayan Digital Library and are catalogued here as a reference only. Articles published in those journals are not necessarily endorsed by THDL.

THDL also plans to host several fully electronic and refereed academic journals. The first was launched in 2005 and is sponsored by the world’s premier associaton of Tibetan Studies, the International Association of Tibetan Studies (IATS). The Journal of the International Association of Tibetan Studies (JIATS) is the first journal in this field to be fully integrated with an online digital library. JIATS accepts multimedia content, promoting the notion that scholarship can be performed and documented in a variety of media.

A fully refereed and edited journal, JIATS is guided by an international board of established scholars of Tibet and the Himalayan region. José Ignacio Cabezón and David Germano are serving as the initial General Editors, while the board of IATS itself is serving as the initial editorial board. We plan to have both general editions open to all types of research, and special thematic editions focusing on special topics of interest. We also will periodically have guest editors whose task it will be to solicit contributions and make editorial decisions in consultation with the academic board and General Editors.
