Panoramas of Sera Monastery in Tibet
Outside Three Important Regional Houses.
(See map below for location and link to interactive map)
You are facing north. Zoom out and you will see the mountains to the north of Sera. The building directly ahead of you is Métsang Regional House (me gtsang khang tshan = s009). Now pan to the right. The very long building you see is one of the most important regional houses of the Ché College called Laa (lwa ba khang tshan = s011). Continue panning right and you will see an empty field. Before 1959, this area was completely filled with monastic residences and regional houses. (If you zoom in you can barely make out the outline of the Potala in the distance.) If you continue to pan right, you will come first to the exterior courtyard wall and then to the temple of Gungru Regional House (gung ru khang tshan = s010). Instructions: Click on the panorama and, holding down your mouse, move it ("pan") to the left or right. You will see that the image moves in the direction you have selected. You can also zoom in and out using the +/- controls at the bottom of each panorama or the Shift/Ctrl keys on your computer keyboard. If you have zoomed in, you can also make the image move up or down to a certain extent. |
