Panoramas of Sera Monastery in Tibet
Next to the Sera Gift Shop
(See map below for location and link to interactive map)
You are looking at offering scarves for sale to worshippers at Sera's gift shop, which also sells Sera memorabilia and cold drinks. Pan out and to the right. The building you see in the distance is called Lower Labtong (bslabs stong 'og ma = s025), probably a residential building before 1959. Continuing right, at the intersection of the two stairways, is the southeast corner of the Badi Apartment House (sba ti spyi khang = s074). The long row of stairs on the right, where the children are sitting, leads up to the Ché College Assembly Hall (not visible). If you continue to pan right, you will see a sitting area, where tourists and worshippers often enjoy a cold drink in the summertime. Beneath that is the so-called Sera "Sand Street" (bye gzhung), which is now paved. Instructions: Click on the panorama and, holding down your mouse, move it ("pan") to the left or right. You will see that the image moves in the direction you have selected. You can also zoom in and out using the +/- controls at the bottom of each panorama or the Shift/Ctrl keys on your computer keyboard. If you have zoomed in, you can also make the image move up or down to a certain extent. |
